Issue 2: Understanding the facts PDF Print E-mail

Ohioans are being bombarded with conflicting information concerning Issue 2 – the decision to retain or repeal SB 5/collective bargaining reform legislation – to the point that many feel overwhelmed in understanding what is fact and what is fiction. As an organization that is dedicated to educating others, we believe that truth is more important than political agendas, which is why we will simply give you the information and let you decide.

Here is our Issue 2 briefing, which explains how collective bargaining reform gives municipals and schools the ability and flexibility to work within their means, especially if the state has to scale back on funding.

Another great resource is American Policy Roundtable’s non-partisan informational packet titled, “Frequently Asked Questions: Ohio SB 5,” which was created by Melanie Elsey, National Legislative Director for AP Roundtable. Melanie has read the entire SB 5 bill and has compared it with the Ohio Revised Code. Her analysis strips away all the hype and simply explains what SB 5 means for Ohio.

There are two major organizations, Building a Better Ohio and We Are Ohio, which are running pro-Issue 2 and anti-Issue 2 campaigns, respectively. Here are their websites:
~Building a Better Ohio: http://www.betterohio.org
~We are Ohio: http://weareohio.com/index.html

Also, PolitiFact has done a good job of helping citizens find the truth in politics. They have addressed some of the misinformation about Issue 2: http://www.politifact.com/ohio/.
