H.R. 4972: To repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act Sponsor: Rep. Steve King (R-IA-5) Description: If passed, this bill repeals the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, effective as of its enactment. As of June 16th, a Discharge Petition has been filed for H.R. 4972. This is a special parliamentary procedure that would force the U.S. House of Representatives to vote on H.R. 4972 and possibly repeal Obamacare. The petition needs 218 signers to force a re-vote. Already, 140 lawmakers have signed on, including Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH). To view who has already signed the petition, please visit: http://clerk.house.gov/111/lrc/pd/petitions/Dis11.htm. Charles Schumer (D-NY) Description: This monster of a bill hits right at the heart of our First Amendment rights. In a nutshell, it will legally stifle the opposition and voice of the newly formed liberty-minded groups and conservative corporations just in time for November's elections. Here are some of the new rules it will impose: Prohibits corporations from pre-election political speech, if 20 percent or more of their equity is owned by foreign nationals or investors. However, the prohibition does not apply to international unions like SEIU and other international activist groups like GreenPeace. If corporations mention a candidate in their ads, they could come under investigation by the FEC for unauthorized "coordination" with a campaign. It requires the disclosure of the names of people who donate to an organization if the organization puts out a political ad, even though the people have nothing to do with conception, creation or publication of the ad. This is just to name a few. Track bill: http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=s111-3295
S. 3194: Public Safety Employer-Employee Cooperation Act of 2009 Sponsor: Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) Description: Known as the police and firefighter monopoly bargaining bill, this legislation mandates that state/local governments enter into collective bargaining agreements with their public safety employees. It also provides minimum collective bargaining standards for state/local police, firefighters and emergency medical technicians personnel.
As many of you know, Democrats are trying to attach this bill to the Iraq/Afghanistan Supplemental Appropriations bill, which focuses on funding our troops abroad.
Currently, there are at least 15 states (if not more) that ban collective bargaining (unions) for public employees. The reason is because those unions are one major reason why so many states are broke. It’s why NJ Governor Chris Christie is taking on public employee unions. We cannot let Congress slip this legislation into any other bill. Track bill: http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=s111-3194

The bill defines "sexual orientation" as heterosexuality, homosexuality, or bisexuality whether actual or perceived and "gender identity and expression" as the gender-related identity, appearance, or expression of an individual regardless of the individual's assigned sex at birth.
